"Owners of gutted building to be prosecuted for negligence" – few questions

This is about the saravana stores fire – today the news is “Owners of gutted building to be prosecuted for negligence” – informed by K R Shyam Sundar, Director Fire & Rescue operations. They arrested the manager and the supervisor.

Several questions comes to my mind – few here:

  • Can we say there is no negligence from the fire & police department side?
  • Is there any process for a regular check up for fire related licenses in complexes like these where you can expect crowd always – like a driving license check?
  • Whether this building was built over night and operated on the day of fire?
  • All other building in that area are fine with fire licenses and implemented fire proof or protection mechanism except this one?
  • why arrest the poor manager and supervisor? they are just there for a monthly salary and even if they insist on fire prevention or protection mechanism, unless the owners ready to spend, how it can happen?

BSNL Broadband: Customer??? who is that idiot!!?

    Update: 16-Oct-2008

BSNL cables arrived inside our apartment. But that’s not the end of the story. There are 28 flats in the apartment and all built-in tele cables ends in the ground floor – but they were not labeled. BSNL (or the contractor in this case) saying we had to first label them so that they can connect to the respective house. In this confusion – they left and no action further. It’s been there for the last 15 days or so. Hope to get this resolved….hope is the only way out now!!!

    Recent Update: 19-july-2008:

A person from BSNL came and gave me a WLL Phone!!! He asked nothing, not even a sign for a proof of delivery…just like that he handed over and tested & went away. I didn’t apply for WLL anyway. I am still waiting for my BROADBAND connection. My whole intention in applying for BSNL is for broadband !!!
==========================================================================
“BSNL Broadband is good” !@#^&, I am still searching for that fellow who told me.

My story with BSNL Broadband!

Jan’08 I shifted to my new flat in Keelkattalai and I was looking for some broadband connection. I was using TATA Indicom for more than a year and was more comfortable with speed and reliability (except rare occasions when it went down for a week). Unfortunately TATA was not there in that area. So I was looking for some other provider. Heard BSNL is good, I also thought since this is going to be a permanent location (thou’ life is not permanent..he he), I would rather get a landline along with BSNL broadband.

I got a connction immediately and it is wonderfully well…..all lived happily. Nice ending, isn’t it? but unfortunately my story doesn’t end there!

I did a follow up with sooo many people:

  • Bsnl shoppe
  • Keelkattalai – exchange
  • Keelkattalai BSNL JE
  • S. Leelasankari GM (South) South : areagmsouth_chennai@bsnl.co.in
  • V. Meenalochiny DGM (OP&PG) Complaints received at Headquarters pg_chnhq@bsnl.co.in
  • R.Balaji Prasad DGM(BBS) Broadband Service pg_chnbbb@bsnl.co.in
  • M.Sridharan DGM (SW) South West & St. Thomas Mount area pg_chnsw@bsnl.co.in
  • E.S.Chandrasekaran, General Manager (Operation):
  • A.N.J. ARADHYA / Mr.ANIL KUMAR : BSNL New Delhi Broadband
  • RAKESH BABU, Customer Services, BSNL
  • All these people via e-mail – listed in BSNL site only.

Not sure why BSNL Broadband is sooo hard to get!!! or I am from an Island !!!!! I did a google and yahoo india map, it shows Keelkattalai area is part of INDIA !!

    Dear Mr. M.Sridharan:

I applied for a BSNL telephone and a broadband connection in the month of Feb’08 and till date I have no clue on its status. I tried several ways to get the status as well as the connection. But all my efforts so far had no impacts.

    The details as follows:

My BSNL Order Number: 82157087 – 19-feb-08, Keelkattalai Area

    · I did an online registeration somewhere in the month of Dec’07 or Jan’08 in Chennai BSNL website

    · Subsequenty a person from BSNL Shoppe came and collected the forms and payment in Feb’08

    · Then nothing happened till mid of march’08

    · The numbers I contacted to get the staus
(for posting sake, I am hiding the numbers, they may be personal numbers, don’t want to make it public)
    o Bsnl shoppe – 94442xxxxx

o Bsnl shoppe – 94448xxxxx (said they only collect forms and I have to only contact or go in person to the exchange)

o Ilayaraja (the person collected the payment) – 98841xxxxx (he told he had left the company)

o Raman (Ilayaraja asked me to call this number) – 94442xxxxx

    · Keelkattalai – exchange – 22470123 – they asked me to call Keelkattalai JE

    · Keelkattalai BSNL JE – 2247 1111 – He said Monday he would take this, not sure which Monday, 1 month gone

    · I have spent more money in calling each one of them and following up and this has put me into lot of stress

I am not sure even after collecting the payment, why BSNL doesn’t bother about the customer and let them knowing the status.

I hope I will get a solution as early as possible. Thank you.

    Regards,
    R.Parthasarathy

    Dasavatharam

Finally I had a chance to view the movie yesterday @ Mayajaal, thanks to my cousin Sriram…

I really enjoyed the movie and the first half was soo fast, in fact I could realize only when the “Interval” showed on screen.

Kamal…as usual did a great job, we could able to see his hard works and efforts.

Enough reviews available in web, so I am not commenting or reviewing the movie.

The touch of “Grazy’s” dialogues was evident….good work by him. At the same time, Kamal’s philosophy also given as a dose!

Also the naidu role for comedy was good. The first 10 to 15 mins. the 12th century scenes were marvelous.

Nice movie to watch movie! Only thing is you have to concentrate more to follow as it is too fast in the first half.

Additional Note: Kamal – a distance relative to me :)  – believe me !!!

    God MSN Chat with Me!

“God MSN Chat with Me” …….. This is an excellent conversation between ‘God’ and the ‘Me’. Those who don’t believe in God, may also find it worth reading once. Enjoy and Think !

God: Hello. Did you call me?
Me: Called you? No.. Who is this?

God: This is GOD. I heard your prayers. So I thought I will chat.
Me: I do pray. Just makes me feel good. I am actually busy now. I am in the midst of something.

God: What are you busy at? Ants are busy too.
Me: Don’t know. But I can’t find free time. Life has become hectic. It’s rush hour all the time.

God: Sure. Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets you results. Activity consumes time. Productivity frees it.
Me: I understand. But I still can’t figure out. By the way, I was not expecting YOU to buzz me on instant messaging chat.

God: Well I wanted to resolve your fight for time, by giving you some clarity. In this net era, I wanted to reach you through the medium you are comfortable with.
Me: Tell me, why has life become complicated now?

God: Stop analysing life. Just live it. Analysis is what makes it complicated.
Me: why are we then constantly unhappy?

God: Your today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. You are worrying because you are analysing. Worrying has become your habit. That’s why you are not happy.
Me: But how can we not worry when there is so much uncertainty?

God: Uncertainty is inevitable, but worrying is optional.
Me: But then, there is so much pain due to uncertainty.

God: Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional.
Me: If suffering is optional, why do good people always suffer?

God: Diamond cannot be polished without friction. Gold cannot be purified without fire. Good people go through trials, but don’t suffer. With that experience their life become better not bitter.
Me: You mean to say such experience is useful?

God: Yes. In every term, Experience is a hard teacher. She gives the test first and the lessons afterwards.
Me: But still, why should we go through such tests? Why can’t we be free from problems?

God: Problems are Purposeful Roadblocks Offering Beneficial Lessons (to) Enhance Mental Strength. Inner strength comes from struggle and endurance, not when you are free from problems.
Me: Frankly in the midst of so many problems, we don’t know where we are heading..

God: If you look outside you will not know where you are heading. Look inside. Looking outside, you dream. Looking inside, you awaken. Eyes provide sight. Heart provides insight.
Me: Sometimes not succeeding fast seems to hurt more than moving in the right direction. What should I do?

God: Success is a measure as decided by others. Satisfaction is a measure as decided by you. You work with the compass. Let others work with the clock.
Me: In tough times, how do you stay motivated?

God: Always look at how far you have come rather than how far you have to go. Always count your blessing, not what you are missing.
Me: What surprises you about people?

God: When they suffer they ask, “why me?” When they prosper, they never ask “Why me”. Everyone wishes to have truth on their side, but few want to be on the side of the truth.
Me: Sometimes I ask, who am I, why am I here. I can’t get the answer.

God: Seek not to find who you are, but to determine who you want to be. Stop looking for a purpose as to why you are here. Create it. Life is not merely a process of discovery but a process of co-creation. You are my co-creator.
Me: How can I get the best out of life?

God: Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear.
Me: One last question. Sometimes I feel my prayers are not answered.

God: There are no unanswered prayers. At times the answer is NO.
Me: Thank you for this wonderful chat.

God: Well. Keep the faith and drop the fear. Don’t believe your doubts and doubt your beliefs. Life is a mystery to solve, not a problem to resolve. Trust me. Life is wonderful if you know how to live. “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that took our breath away!”

    Perception!

The train has started moving. It is packed with people of all ages, mostly with the working men and women and young college guys and gals. Near the window, seated a old man with his 30 year old son. As the train moves by, the son is overwhelmed with joy as he was thrilled with the scenery outside..

” See dad, the scenery of green trees moving away is very beautiful”

This behavior from a thirty year old son made the other people feel strange about him. Every one started murmuring something or other about this son.”This guy seems to be a krack..” newly married Anup whispered to his wife.

Suddenly it started raining… Rain drops fell on the travelers through the opened window. The Thirty year old son , filled with joy ” see dad, how beautiful the rain is ..”

Anup’s wife got irritated with the rain drops spoiling her new suit.

Anup ,” cant you see its raining, you old man, if ur son is not feeling well get him soon to a mental asylum..and dont disturb public henceforth”

The old man hesitated first and then in a low tone replied ” we are on the way back from hospital, my son got discharged today morning , he was a blind by birth, last week only he got his vision, these rain and nature are new to his eyes.. Please forgive us for the inconvenience caused…”

The things we see may be right from our perspective until we know the truth. But when we know the truth our reaction to that will hurt even us. So try to understand the problem better before taking a harsh action.

    A/C – my new buy

Samsung A/C After 2 months of deliberation on whether to buy for this summer or next, I finally went for an A/C yesterday.

It is Samsung 1.5 ton split A/C – Bio Sleep, costing me close to Rs. 25,000 with installation.

My wife was getting the price information from several companies like, Velachery Sekar store, T Nagar Rathna fans, Vasanth & Co. etc. What I found was some 1000 rupess difference between these companies, say free Tata Sky, if not some amount less, free Gold coin…or less money etc.

Finally I bought this from Chellamani & Co. Pallavaram, mainly due to my relatives recommendation.

The outlet machine was rather big I feel and is taking a big space in my balcony, that’s the only worry for me.

For me, balcony is a great place in my home, it connects me to outside world and nature, breeze, birds, moon…so I would love to spend more time there, but nowadays set up box and IPL is pulling me towards TV.

One of the main reason I went for a split is to avoid giving my window to the A/C. Most of the time my windows are open and I would love to see the sky from my bed. There is a problem of dust, but that’s secondary comparing to the FEEL I get.

Still I remember, during my school days, during summer vacation I used to go my patti’s (grant mother) village near Madurai, Puliyur. With all that coconut trees around, I used to sleep in the “thinnai” outside the house. With the moon light cutting across the coconut leaves and a gentle natural breeze, it was more than good comparing to a A/C room sleep!

    Every Child is Special

What a movie, from start to end tears in my eyes. In fact my wife gave me a towel ! true.

The way the story has been narrated, the music, the video, crew – superb.

    Aamir, what to say…the perfectionist!

It is a MUST watch movie.

I love teaching and teachers, Aamir’s role as a teacher is what every child needs.

Let us give all our children the care, peace, joy, & then knowledge – the present way of schooling with job as ONLY objective is never going to bring those, rather it is killing their wonderful childhood.
