The other side of Education – Dr.Kishorekumar

image

Every Sunday night 10:30pm to 11pm I dedicate the 30 mins in watching Dr.Kishorekumar’s program “The other side of education” in Vijay TV.

This is one of my fav. program and Dr. is simply great, his voice, the tone, the message, the language – I admire him soo much.

I love teaching and teaching always been very very close to my heart, not sure it is due to the reason that my parents are teachers.

I have been watching this program for many many weeks and I really enjoy it, even though the intended audiences are students many times, I used to take away a lot of message for me.

Today the topic was “The chemistry of Parenting”, wow! it could not have been a better timing than this…my daughter is of 7 months and I could able to learn a lot from today’s session…How a father and mother influences the life of the child…what kind of chemistry they pass on to the child, right from discipline to connecting with relatives to knowledge…

I don’t see this program is only for students or only parents, but for everyone. So next time if you get a chance, please watch… this program comes right after “Neeya Naana”…

I salute Dr.Kishorekumar for all his efforts in helping student community! I hope I will get a chance to meet Dr.Kishorekumar one day!!!

Dr. , All the very BEST for all your efforts.

Gilly! you are the best

Wow! What an innings he played last night against Delhi in the IPL Semi Finals. Right from the 1st over in which he hit 5 boundaries, he seems to be in full control and wanted to take full charge.

He led from the front and Deccan Chargers, Hyd is now in IPL 2009 finals. I am really happy for them! After Chennai, I follow them closely. If Chennai Vs. Hyd , it will be choosing between my wife & daughter – to whom I should support!!! :)

After the match, the most inspiring incident happened during Gilly’s press conference.

Gilly showed a piece of paper which he told he had written before starting from his hotel room. The paper had “We are winning by 6 wkts.”. WoW!

Check the score card here: http://content.cricinfo.com/ipl2009/engine/match/392237.html

Gilly! You are a TRUE champion! My HERO !!!

Sri Arunodayam & Mr. Ayyappan, man with a mission

arunodhayam.jpg

Sri Arunodayam is home for destitute children. These children are either mentally retarded or spastic and abandoned by their family.

I am proud that I know Mr.Ayyappan, Managing Trustee, Sri Arunodayam Charitable Trust. He has been doing a wonderful job protecting these childrens. It is hard to understand the kind of sacrifices, but trust me, he is God’s representative.

I should be really thankful to my cousin Priya, who introduced Ayyappan to me, he is such a nice person to meet and you can never get the softness, the kindness from anybody…..such a lovely person.

I thank God for an oppurtunity to support him, but whatever we do is nothing when compared to his efforts. Anyway, I tender my request to my readers, friends, relatives, fellow bloggers…if you can do something for Sri Arunodhayam, that would be wonderful.

It is not only your money is needed, your persence is also very precious, do spend a day or atleast couple of hrs. with these kids, that would do a LOT.

For more information about Sri Arunodayam visit http://www.sriarunodayam.org.
It has also the contact address and 24/7 helpline.

If you wish to support financially, please visit : http://www.sriarunodayam.org/howcanhelp.htm

IT IS FOR DUTY TO DO SOMETHING FOR THE SOCIETY TOO.

Err is human, realize the err is…Simon Taufel

Simon

Simon Taufel is my favorite umpire in the ICC Elite panel. In fact I am his fan I should say and did several google searches about him. He is one of THE BEST.

To provide evidence, he won the ICC Best umpire of the year award for the past 2 years. He is from Australia, another reason I like him much !

I never saw him giving wrong decisions and sometimes I feel how he is able to watch the ball so close and decide in fraction of a second. I have seen many cases when the TV commentators used to say ball going down and by the time, Simon might have raised the finger. But in reply, you can see the ball hitting the leg stump and there is no way it can miss! So the accuracy is something great.

But all said, he is also human and bound to make some mistakes.

In the recent test match between India vs. England (2nd test – India won by 7 wkts …mainly due to super Zaheer), in the 1st innings when India was cruising along, Simon raised a finger to a ball which is coming from outside the off stumps, but no way it can hit the off stump, hit the pads of Sachin when no shot offered… Sachin couldn’t believe, stood his ground for couple of minutes and left. Then to Saurav again, the ball was clearly missing his bat when he tried to flick on the legside, but there was some noise which Simon thought from bat and raised finger…again Saurav was disappointed rightly.

Under the circumstances, these 2 are critical decisions which went against India, otherwise we could have seen yet another ton from GOD (Cricket is our religion and Sachin is our God).

But the next day, I read in newspaper that, after seeing the reply on big screen in the ground, Simon realized his mistake and even he was quoting, “Yes, that’s wrong decision”. Something never heard off in International cricket. All umpires try to justify their mistake and what Simon did was great. But he also said he would have given Saurav out every time, not sure why!? May be due to the sound it made when it crossed the batsman.

This is what came out in “The Statesman

Taufel upset about mistake

NOTTINGHAM, July 30: Australian umpire Mr Simon Taufel, who has been in the eye of a storm for giving Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly out on the third day of the second Test, has acknowledged that he was very upset to have handed a poor decision to Tendulkar. “I always look at the big screen after giving a decision. And the minute I saw the replay of Sachin’s dismissal, I knew I got it wrong,” Mr Taufel said. n PTI

Thank God, these decisions didn’t affect the result and Indians, thanks to Jelly Beans and Zaheer won the match at last. Winning against England is something special always…

Simon, you are always the best….and it is just a mistake you have done, which is unavoidable to humans, but what you did after the mistake is something great and should be followed.

Simon, all the best and I always be your fan and for your art of umpiring. Thank you.

2 of the best in their own!

We meet lot of persons in our life….it can be class mates, neighbors, relatives, friends, colleagues…soo many….but there are very few who can be influential in our life. They will make a definite change in the way we live, we think …and the change will turn the direction at which we are heading.

I wanted to write about such people in my life. There are many…here I am going to write about 2 of them…and I will continue this sequence.

In this post, the 2 I am going to write about is, 1. Mahadevan 2. Manickavel. Both of them are my ex-collogues in CI.

First Maha….he was my team mate, when we were running a 2 member team in the company, his project came to an end and he was transferred to our department. There is no way I can be a lead to him, but still due to the team structure I happened to be a lead. Maha, is not a regular person we can meet regularly in life, he is something unique and can’t be followed in lot of cases also !!! yes, his life style is totally different, he used to take 10 cups of coffee per day and suddenly he quit coffee for 3 months!!! He used to watch5 movies per week…all in cinema theaters, and here again….stops that for 2 months !!! can you believe this.

For a long time I used to wonder why he is doing like this, then later on I realized that he is just doing this to say “I am not addicted to it and prove I can live without that also…”, is that required for a coffee, yes, I feel he is right. One more point is, monotonous….he always breaks that monotonous living and change something, make a new beginning.

He is a perfectionist, any job he takes, you can rest assure of its quality. He would give lot of trouble, asking me to do this…that etc…ask me follow process…they all different story. His technical knowledge…nobody can ever match up…the clarity of thoughts, wow!

Can you imagine a person, after completing B.tech…take all school books from 6th to 10th, make a time table to read and go with it??? Yes, maha did that after B.tech !!!

He used to live a very very small room and you can see a chart which shows Monday – 10 glass of water, Tuesday 12…!!!??? I have seen this in his room!

Lot of things I have learnt from him….technology, approach towards a project…etc etc. sometime he used to open his bag and take a small paper and reads 50 points which needs to be completed….!!! He will think about the project and list 50 points during night!!!

Basically he is a textile engineer…but the switch he made to IT…I would say IT is lucky enough.

Now he is in Kolkata and still we share everything which happens in our life and I am really proud to earn his friendship.

2nd is Manickavel…he joined in our company as a salesperson…he was doing some local software sales…going to places in his bike…hope you know how hard it is to sell software to Indians!!! And get payment…..next to impossible.

When he joined and took over the oversees sales, it was completely new and I used to train him with some internet based demo apps like, web-ex etc. But the way he took it forward from there…is something unimaginable. Before I say anything….he left our company recently and now in US!!! The growth of a local salesperson to an international level…with short period..shows his efforts.

I am yet to see a person apart from manick with the kid of commitment to his work and client….great. I have learnt a lot from manick also, his approach towards a client, project….keeping things simple, the follow ups…superb.

Even though he is a sapesperson, his technical knowledge is too good…even that time he was the only person certified by Microsoft for VB !!!! no technical, he is a marketing person..believe me.

Manick and me travelled together…to Australia, Vietnam…and stayed together….these trip were something I can’t forget…we share a lot of happy moments….Including TANTAS!!! ( a code word which we share)….

We are actually more than office friends, we are now family friends, I used to visit his home often…his son Praveen…working with a PDA at an age of 7 !!! I came to know about a PDA only couple of years after my MCA !

I wish Manick all the very best in his business and personal life.

The good part is, both of them came to my life at the same time and now they are in different locations, but still we share the same friendship is something really good.

These 2 people made some huge impacts in my life, they way I live and the way l look things.

I wish both of them …all the very best…and to maha especially, get married soon sir, we have been waiting for a looooooongggggggg time.
