ST Courier – Shocker! Parcel Broken & Item theft

I was using Professional Courier for a long time without problems. Recently launched ST Courier looked fine initially when I sent couple of times to Coimbatore.

But this time I got a shocker! The parcel I sent was broken and they took one of the 3 items I sent, repacked it and delivered. The parcel I sent was for my new born, I bought a sweater and 2 soft towels. One of the towels missing :(.

I booked the parcel @ Velachery ST Courier office, Taramani Road. I spoke to them couple of times and then called their main office 22666666, but no final result. They couldn’t trace to where exactly it gone wrong. They were not even offered the corrective measure or replacement.

I understand courier service involves many people, but without putting a strict process and people management, things like these damages the company reputation to a greater extend, that too at this starting stage.

So for me, no more ST Courier! bye-bye to them.

CAREFUL WHEN YOU SEND PARCELS – DON’T SEND VALUABLE ITEMS – THERE IS NO GUARANTEE.

All is well, Finally – Got my BSNL – DATAONE

My fight with BSNL is finally over after exactly a year. I got my landline connection 20 days back and y’day I got my broadband also.

I applied for a wireless router & got the same :). Yesterday Keelkattalai JE and AE, both came to my house and configured everything. I wasn’t there anyway.

They were bit upset with my complaints I sent to BSNL Delhi, I feel sorry for them, but as a customer I haven’t done anything wrong. In fact I had no choice. When I came to know someone who applied after me got the connection, I was terribly upset and took all the steps to go for the public grievances cell.

The connection is simply superb with wireless working awesome. If at all BSNL adds more process for customer care, no private player can compete ! :)

I have configured the wireless router for MAC & enabled it. I don’t want somebody to use & pay for it :). I tested with a Windows Mobile device and it worked fine.

While I was explaining this to my wife, she asked what is MAC? Clean BOWLED. I had no clue about the expansion, but used the term several times. After setting up all, google and wikipedia helped me  –

Media Access Control (MAC)   & MAC Address

BSNL – never changed!

I have been a customer of

  • ICICI Bank for the past 6 years – both Savings account and a Credit card
  • Airtel – mobile phone – 4 years
  • TATA Indicom Broadband – 2 years (not now – had to close due to home shift)

But I have been never to these offices except very few times in all these years. ICICI, I might have been to the bank 5 or less occasions, Airtel – may be couple of times, TATA – never!

We are in a e-age where we can get all works done by either phone or web. Even a money transfer to some other bank, I can do online. Any service requests like activating a service, I can just call Airtel customer care.

Even Tamilnadu government has changed – we can pay electricity bill ONLINE. I am not saying I am lazy ad want to do all from home :). Waste of time and effort if we go to their respective offices – both for us and for them too!

Now come to BSNL, I am following up with BSNL for a bill clarification. My major story about BSNL is here – still unresolved – he he.

They gave a WLL and never told about any Internet thru’ WLL. Now I got a bill saying rs.250 for an UNLIMITED (he he) CDMA Internet. Salt to the wound! ha?

I have contacted (no:1500) customer care and at least spoke a dozen people for clarification and how to connect WLL. America is easy to find surely, finding a solution with BSNL – no way!!!

After 10 to 15 days, too many people asked me to go to the Keelkattalai BSNL exchange, but how can I go with all pre-occupied works with office etc. And whether BSNL works by 24/7 to go whenever I find time after office hours?? The only option is I have to a leave and go!!! Sit there in the exchange for the whole day and find a solution!!! is it a customer care?

COME ON BSNL -  CARE FOR YOUR CUSTOMER PLEASE!?

India should send the BSNL people for relay races – definitely they will bring the GOLD in Olympics. One number to the other – the relay going on and on and on. I have called too many accounts officers and customer care (ha ha – he he) officers.

underwater Cable Cut – I am affected :)

This is my first posting from my new home. For all those who raise eyebrows, YES, I bought a new flat in Kilkatalai and moved a day before Pongal.

My existing broadband ISP TATA Indicom said my new location was not covered!!! so tried several others – like AirTel….but none worked out. Finally moved to new location without broadband.

It was tough without connectivity at home, mainly because I had to spend more time at office in the evening, otherwise I can reach home by 7pm and put in couple of hrs. from home.

Finally I got Sify….as usual they promised to install on Monday and eventually completed by wednesday…not the same week !!!

I also applied for a BSNL Dataone, but I know it would take its own course of time….

Meanwhile coming back to Sify, I am really wondering why Sify is providing such a low speed connectivity. My connection now is 128 Kbps…for Rs. 700+ / month…whereas I used 2GB connection for less than Rs.600 with TATA.

The other difference is, with TATA I used to have a router at home and a telephone cable was the input to that router. But with Sify, they brought a network cable !!! that’s interesting, no need for plug-in any additional hardware at home and provide power supply!!!

Y’day I heard about the underwater cable cut in NDTV…but thought it is affecting only Delhi and north region. But today I could able to feel the slow….but Sify did a good job in providing that info to users via a pop-up message.

Here it is:
sify

So I am affected too !!!!

Sony – Surprised with customer service

Sony T11
I am having a Sony DSC T11, I bought this couple of years back in Malaysia during a transit to Australia.

The camera has been excellent, it is stylish and it is one of my best purchase decisions.

Recently I had a problem in the camera and I searched for a local service center. I found one in Adyar, Chennai and went there with the camera.

Normally with these kind of international purchases, to get local support is something next to impossible.

I went there and showed my camera, they asked the question – where did I purchase?….they filled in some forms and explained the process. The lady in the counter was excellent, she explained the cost in case of any part change etc. She also told that there used to be standard problem in Sony, in that case they would provide the support for free!!!

A day after I got a call from Sony asking me to collect my camera, i went there again. You can’t believe this, she told me that it was their standard problem and they fixed it for free !!! FREE ??!!! Yes, I got the problem fixed for free…..I didn’t even buy from a local Sony.

This is really good, I thought DELL service is always best…now Sony prooved me that I was wrong….with this incident my whole perspective of looking at Sony and Sony products has changed.

Also their service center ambiance was too good….and their process is excellent. In fact my friend asked them whether they are certified for any ISO….or something like that :-).

Thank you SONY, you have proved to be International brand. It’s time for all other companies to follow such a great model and provide support across the globe rather than charging customers for different locations.
