Memorable win @ my town for India

Chennai – Chepuak ground – India Vs. England – 1st test match.

image

After 5-0 win over England in ODIs, India started strong favourites in this 2 test match series. England having a much better bowling attack than Aussies, bowled out India cheaply in the 1st innings and gained 75 runs lead.

In 2nd innings, England showed poor application while setting a target to India and finally managed to give 387 as target. They lacked positiveness.

Sewag showed the power of positiveness and reduced the target by 100 runs within very short period toward 4th day end.

Needing 250+ to win, India started today (final day) badly, Dravid out early. Come on WALL!, you CAN.

Sachin and Yuvi showed the brilliance, Sachin scored his 41st test century. Yuvi proved as a test player in place of Sourav (may be, more consistency needed).

India won by 6 wkts! Wow!!!

Same venue, against Pak, Sachin missed to complete the job and India lost. That moment came to my mind often, but this time luck favours Sachin.

For England, Andrew Strass and Swann are the positives.

Indians created history ! India becoming stronger and stronger after 26/11?!

Saluting … one of the BEST in the world

image

After a lot of speculation, Irani trophy drop, finally the shocking news appeared…Sourav planning to quit after Australia series.

I am really disappointed. He is a gifted player – offside drives were something fantastic to watch. He showed the power of LEADERSHIP to Indian cricket.

Anyway all the best Sourav. I wish for a wonderful life with family.

Commitment, Consistency, Class

“It’s a bit embarrassing for me to be here. However, Brijesh Patel and KSCA convinced me that it would be a good idea and would be some sort of an inspiration for a lot of young kids who come here. I am really honoured and humbled by the gesture.”

- Rahul Dravid.

Acknowledging his 10,000 runs achievement in both test and ODIs, KSCA and Skyline group built “The Wall” with 10,000 bricks. The wall was unveiled by teammate Sachin Tendulkar. Also present at the event were Test team captain Anil Kumble, former paceman Javagal Srinath.

Next time if you go to Bangalore this is a MUST watch.

The highlight of “The Wall” is a large ‘metal statue’ of Dravid playing his trademark cover-drive. There is a live electronic unit at the right-hand-top-corner of ‘The Wall’, which displays Dravid’s current score in Test cricket, even as he keeps the score-boards ticking.

“I am honoured and humbled by that” is what Dravid had to say.

I LOVE DRAVID.

ICC for Australia! – Immediate rule change announcements

(1) Ricky Ponting – (THE TRULY GENUINE CRICKETER OF THE CRICKET ERA AND WHOSE INTEGRITY SHOULD NOT BE DOUBTED) should be considered as the FOURTH UMPIRE. As per the new rules, FOURTH UMPIRE decision is final and will over ride any decisions taken by any other umpires. ON-FIELD umpires can seek the assistance of RICKY PONTING even if he is not on the field. This rule is to be made, so that every team should understand the importance of the FOURTH UMPIRE.

(2) While AUSTRALIAN TEAM is bowling, If the ball flies anywhere close to the AUSTRALIAN FIELDER(WITHIN 5 metre distance), the batsman is to be considered OUT irrelevant of whether the catch was taken cleanly or grassed. Any decision for further clarification should be seeked from the FOURTH UMPIRE. This is made to ensure that the cricket is played with SPORTIVE SPIRIT by all the teams.

(3) While BATTING, AUSTRALIAN players will wait for the ON-FIELD UMPIRE decisions only (even if the catch goes to the FIFTH SLIP as the ball might not have touched the bat). Each AUSTRALIAN batsman has to be out FOUR TIMES (minimum) before he can return to the pavilion. In case of THE CRICKETER WITH INTEGRITY, this can be higher.

(4) UMPIRES should consider a huge bonus if an AUSTRALIAN player scores a century. Any wrong decisions can be ignored as they will be paid huge bonus and will receive the backing of the AUSTRALIAN team and board.

(5) All AUSTRALIAN players are eligible to keep commenting about all players on the field and the OPPONENT TEAM should never comment as they will be spoiling the spirit of the AUSTRALIAN team. Any comments made in any other language are to be considered as RACIALISM only.

(6) MATCH REFREE decisions will be taken purely on the AUSTRALIAN TEAM advices only. Player views from the other teams decisions will not be considered for hearing. MATCH REFREES are to be given huge bonus if this rule is implemented.

(7) NO VISITING TEAM should plan to win in AUSTRALIA. This is to ensure that the sportive spirit of CRICKET is maintained.

(8) THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE: If any bowler gets RICKY PONTING – “THE UNDISPUTED CRICKETER WITH INTEGTIRY IN THE GAME OF CRICKET” more than twice in a series, he will be banned for the REST OF THE SERIES. This is to ensure that the best batsman/Captain will be played to break records and create history in the game of CRICKET.

These rules will clarify better to the all the teams VISITING AUSTRALIA.

UN to US – ICC to Australia??? :)

NOTE: I am not the author of the above post, I got it forwarded from my friend. I used to quote or refer the original or say forwarded one, I don’t know why I didn’t do that in this instance, i posted during mid-day, so just copied and pasted it. Anyway, nice to know that soo many reads this and quoting me in their blog :)

In fact I was bit emotional when Kumble appeared on LIVE interview after the match with Harsha, Gavaskar, i should confess, tears!!!

Dropping Dravid Unfair

Dravid Dropped

Shocking, I am disappointed….
If this is the way, people are going to be treated, then…what to say?

May be they could have called Rahul and conveyed or made him understand. Like how England and Australia cricket boards did for their senior players! I read in an article. I am a big fan of Sachin, but why this kind of thing never happend to Sachin when he was out of form?

We need to respect people who have proved and how have given their best. If we are unable to do that, then our civilization itself is in ?

I support Dravid and wish him all the best for the Ranji match against Mumbai on Nov 2 2007.

GET BACK RAHUL…we love you and we are behind you….always.

Beautiful Saturday @ Blue Lagoon – ECR

20-Oct-07, Saturday – one of the best day, away from the work pressure….me, my team mates (few ex. :) too) we all went to one my favorite place in ECR – Blue Lagoon Resort.

We used to book and play in the normal cricket ground, but we have never been inside the resort. This was the first time we went in.

The day started beautifully, in fact we had some doubt whether we can make it due to some drizzle and threat of a rain. But by the time we reached there, it was sunny and a OK weather to play cricket.

List if participants

1. Kishore, our captain
2. Srinivasan, Coach cum manager
3. Mahesh, right arm off-spin fast
4. Uday, uthappa?
5. Mohan, right arm wide
6. Rajaprabhu, all-in-all alagu
7. Murugesh, B.Lee Ji
8. Arul (pro series)
9. Arjun, sixer arjun
10. Angu, singles Angu
11. Srini, Jr. sreesanth minus actions
12. Vasanth, open to end bat, don’t ask score
13. Suresh, inzamam..still playing?
14. Geetha, our only spectator…but we have paid her he he
15. and ME

We played 3 matches, 2 before lunch and 1 after lunch.

By lunch, the score was 1-1. But after lunch our team was affected by the menu, so we lost the series by 1:2.

Speaking after the series, Kishore said, his team would bounce back in the coming Aus series, his team lacks only in bowling, fielding and betting which can happen to any team!

After receiving the trophy, Srini said, there was a discussion about me…going to resign and join the rebel team, but our boys held the stomach!!! and hit sixes, which made the difference at end of day.

Man of the match in the final, Mohan said, he always hit sixes and esply after lunch when the ball is swinging…
In fact one of the sixes, the ball in yet to come, Air Force and Coast guard has been alerted !

Man of the series Mahesh said. “I used to get man of the series for bowling fast, but this is the first time I am getting it for batting, I had few problems with kishore in RHM and I took the revenge on the field !”.

In front of the huge crowd :)…suresh wanted to prove himself, but uthappa spoiled it by throwing to the striker end and arjun by mistake dragged the ball on to the stumps…..a close call, but what to do when TV replays shows he was short !!!

Another important moment came when Rajaprabhu went in and srini was bowling, the first ball…full toss went for a straight six. But for some reason Rajaprabhu went to srini and said thanks. Investigations are still on, decision will be announced in next ICC meet at London. But the crowd was saying “problems within the family…what to do”.

2 best catches were awarded, Arjun and Angu – both as wkt keepers. but TV reply shows their eys were closed while catching…even when the ball was in their hand, they were searching the ball near them….confusing?!, another ball?

Most importantly, Lunch was too good…

Then… by evening, we all went to beach and enjoyed.

Few photos follow…this post.

It’s all about ATTITUDE

You need technique, you need skills, you need luck, you need power……having all these means you are a WINNER?? No.

Attitude makes the difference.

With Sachin, Sourav, Dravid – have we ever had a match with this much of intensity on field??

These new young bunch of boys proving once again, ATTITUDE is everything. There is no Indian player in the top 3 or even in top 5 – either in batting – runs or bowling – wkts….but India is in FINALs.

We have seen soo many tournaments with statistics saying, Sachin highest runs scorer, Dravid with best average etc etc and by the time India would be out of the tournament. Now you see History is being rewriiten by these boys.

Come on India – lets cross the final hurdle and make India proud – all our wishes are with you…
